Thanh Hang Nguyen was born on June 19, 1977, in Paris. She started the guitar at age 7 with Gérard Verba, at the Antony Conservatoire municipal, where she was unanimously awarded the top prize by the FNUCMU (Fédération nationale des Conservatoires Municipaux). She then went on studying at the Conservatoir Municipal in Paris XIIth district, where she received at age 13 only the first unified prize of Paris cum laude.
She then went on studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in Alberto Ponce’s class, and graduated in 1999.
The winner of several international competitions among which that of the Yamaha Foundation and of the Antony international competition, Thanh Hang Nguyen started her career as a soloist very young. She has recorded TV programs in France within the context of the CNSMDP’s young talents’ concert, as well as in Vietnam. A guest at many festivals, in Argentina, in Mexico, in Vietnam, in France, she also plays in several music groups, and keeps broadening her répertoire to chamber music (duet with a violin, with a cello). She was also a member of the Agustin Barrios quartet, which specialized in South American music.
At the same time as she follows a career as a concert player, Thanh Hang Nguyen holds the state diploma and teaches at the Antony Conservatoire.
